RAY SINGER
What's done has been done/Dreamer of the past (CNR F 428)THIS single definitely deserves your attention if you go for British freakbeat.
It has been largely overlooked (does it appear on any comps?) but is of VERY high standard. I cannot include soundfiles, but will try to draw a picture of what it sounds like.
Imagine Chris Andrews backed by Wimple Winch (oh yes!) and being recorded by Joe Meek in one of his 1966 group sessions (Blue Rondos, Riot Squad).
Get the picture? It is THAT good...
Ray Singer released a few more singles on Ember but this is absolutely his best.
Amazingly enough this was licensed by Dutch indie record company CNR who even released it in a glorious picture sleeve.
Of course it went nowhere and is a are find these days...
The record is in near-MINT condition - the sleeve is excellent with two small numbers written on the back.
