Description
Artist: Ray Stanley.
Record label: Capitol Records, recorded in May, 1956.
Song titles: A side: LET'S GET ACQUAINTED; B side: COMMON SENSE.
Grade: Labels: VG+ due to stickers and a "W" written on both labels by a local radio station DJ; vinyl: NM; sound: NM due to very minimal background noise at intros of both tunes, but you will be very pleased with the sound quality of this rare rockabilly 45.
Comments: Wow...what an incredible find! This is a mega rare copy of a promo 45 that was once in the archives of a local radio station, and I think that it's cool that one of the DJs chose to write on both labels. The A side label has a round sticker with "W, 1972", and the B side label has a round sticker with "W, 1971", and I am assuming that this was a radio station inventory number, but your guess is as good as mine. In addition to the stickers, the DJ wrote a "W" in red ink on both labels. Ray Stanley wrote both tunes, and as you will see below, the legendary Eddie Cochran played lead guitar. You can hear LET'S GET ACQUAINTED if you'll google www.youtube.com and search "Ray Stanley, LET'S GET ACQUAINTED." Ray Stanley is listed as a Rockabilly Legend on the website www.rockabillyhall.com, which is the website for The Rockabilly Hall Of Fame. This mega rare "one of a kind" 45 is worthy of finding a home in an important Rockabilly vinyl collection...especially since the original recordings were lost!
Here's some additional information that I found on the Internet, and I took the liberty of copying and pasting it to this listing:
