Raymond Scott gründete das Raymond Scott Quintette in den dreißiger Jahren und veröffentlichte Jazzoriginale wie "Powerhouse" und "Dinner Music For A Pack Of Cannibals", die durch Verwendung in den Cartoon von Warner Bros. unsterblich wurden. Zwischen Cartoons, Big Band und Bandleader der Hitparade im US-Fernsehen zwischen 1950 und 1957 erfand Scott elektronische Instrumente und entwickelte bahnbrechende Aufnahmetechniken.

"Soothing Sounds For Baby" von 1963 entstand auf solchen elektronischen Instrumenten wie der Ondiolone, selbstgebauten Rhythmusgeneratoren und dem Bandecho. Diese Zusammenstellung von "Hörspielzeug" war für Babies in drei verschiedenen Altersgruppen gedacht; die einfachen Rhythmen und Melodien sollten "entspannt stimulieren" und eine beruhigende Atmosphäre bieten. 1963 stieß das auf eher verhaltenes Interesse; im Rückblick jedoch sind das die absoluten Vorläufer des Ambient Minimalismus, wie ihn Eno, Fripp, Steve Reich oder Philip Glass kultivieren sollten.

Diese Re-Issues wurden sorgfältig von den Originalbändern gemastered und beinhalten einen Essay vom Ramond Scott Archivleiter Irwin Chusid. "Astoundingly ahead-of-their-time examples of inspired and impeccably recorded electronic music. Predating by more than a decade such innovators as Brian Eno and Kraftwerk, Scott's work exhibits impressive sophistication, both conceptually and in terms of the performances." - Paul Verna, Billboard
