Frank Lyndon “Earth Angel”/“Don’t Look At Me” Bang Records 531 1966
Promotional disc jockey copy
Frank Scheeren (1935-2003) replaced Carlo Mastrangelo in the Belmonts and sang with the group in concert and on recordings into the 1970s, including the 1972 Madison Square Garden reunion concert with Dion.
Working with singer-songwriter-producer Ernie Maresca, he recorded five singles for five different labels under his given name and his stage name between 1962 and 1969.
This was the fourth of his releases, issued in August of 1966. None of them are common. This is only the fourth copy of the Bang disc to appear on eBay in the past 10 years.
Vinyl: typical styrene pressing from the mid-1960s. The “Don’t Look At Me” side is cleaner and looks and plays in VG (very good) condition. “Earth Angel” has one notable surface mark (see photos) but no sustained ticking or popping and certainly no skips.
Not the greatest copy, but a very listenable and playable one.
