Description

RCA LSC 2421, “Henryk Szeryng in Recital” Henryk Szeryng (Violin), Charles Reiner (Piano) (1960) 2s/1s, A1/A1, Indianapolis pressing. This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old, shaded dog pressing. This copy is not quite perfect, but it is very clean and plays almost perfectly.  It is one of the rarest of all the RCA living stereo LPs and is considered a “holy grail” among violin recordings. The violin sound is very realistic with a wide and deep sound stage.  The vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy and quiet with NO pops, clicks, or skips.  There are NO scuff marks, however there are 4 very tiny pressing bubbles on side 1 - only one of which makes any sound that I can detect – three barely audible, soft thumps.  Otherwise, it plays perfectly.  The vinyl grading is EX/EX+.  The labels are clean with only some very light spindle marks on side 1 (see photos). The jacket is clean, but has the words “FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY” stamped in gold on the upper left back corner (see photos).  In summary, this is a beautiful copy of this wonderful golden-age violin recording.
