Description
RCA SF7969: HAROLD McNAIR QUARTET
This was issued in 1968, the second album by this fine West-Indian reed player. This must have been around the time he was a sideman for Donovan - the back photo has him wearing a paisley/floral shirt! Don't let that put you off, this is first class modern jazz quartet session with McNair (fl/ts) accompanied by Bill Le Sage (p), Spike Heatley (b) and Tony Carr (d). This is a first UK RCA stereo pressing with the 'red spot' label. As far as I know, there was no mono pressing of this issue.
Side 1 'Mento'/'Indecision'/'Lord Of The Reedy River'/'The Hipster'/'Mini Blues'
Side 2 'Secret Love'/'Darn That Dream'/'On A Clear Day'/'The Cottage'
CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The disc is EtoE+ (VG+toVG++) with some light to very light scratches/scuffs and a small amount of light, general groove wear, visible under a bright 'grading' light. These have little affect on the playing. The cover is E (VG+), with some edge/surface creasing, minor corner damage, surface scratching/dirt and slight shadowing. In the middle of the bottom seam, there is a small incipient split.
