Description
1962 RCA Victor Soria Series release of The Heifetz-Piatigorsky Concerts with Primrose, Pennario and Guests.
- record one side 1 Mendelssohn hairline between 7 o'clock and 8 o'clock runs the length of the record but after a little noise at the start settles down to play almost perfectly. Matrix 2G
- record one side 6 Mozart a number of flaws in the vinyl but again sounds fine with one tick at halfway and some background noise near the very end. Matrix 1G
- record two side 2 Franck two parallel hairlines but despite a bit of tickiness at the start plays very nicely apart from the odd tick especially near the end. Matrix 1D
- record two side 5 Brahms a bit ticky at the start but plays nicely thereafter. Matrix 1D
- record three side 3 Schubert hairline running the length of the record but no impact on the audio quality which, while a little ticky at the start, is excellent thereafter until a little noisy near the end. Matrix 1D
- record three side 4 Schubert plays nicely. Matrix 1D
- The Box is a bit worn and, as can be seen in picture 8, the catalogue numbers and letters have faded from the side.
- The outer leaf of the insert was stuck to the inside of the box and the upshot of this can be seen in pictures 4, 5 and 6 where a little of the inside of the box has now become part of the insert. The insert is somewhat creased but still in good enough condition while the original inner sleeves are a bit creased but still look nice.
- Overall the rating for the Box and insert would be VG but I doubt you'd find a better quality audio for records of this age
