The 1985 debut full-length from homegrown post-punk outliers, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry (often affectionately dubbed 'The Lorries'), confused certain listeners upon its arrival due to the immediate comparisons many made to goth-rock, a term the group vehemently rejected. Citing more pop-inflected influences such as MC5 and Wire, frontman Chris Reed introduced many to a distant, vacated style that would become an instant indicator of post-punk nuance once removed from its gothic associations. Featuring arguably their biggest single, the hazy, sultry, 'Hollow Eyes', as well as being the essential go-to for vintage fans of the scene, there's never been a more ample opportunity to rediscover or educate oneself to the vital genre contributions we often forget took place in our back garden.
