REDUCERS
A garage-punk band from Bury, Lancashire, The Reducers were formed in summer 1977, and recorded their debut single (edition of 1000 copies) at Smile Studio, Manchester, on February 10, 1978. It offers two strong punk numbers, featuring some remarkably inventive elements somewhat reminiscent of Pink Flag-period Wire. The band's second vinyl output hit the market in late June 1979. The compositions are superior clever-punk efforts, without the primitive energy of the previous platter but with more inventiveness and originality to compensate - sort of The Adverts-meet-early Scars: a worthy platter...(from Mario Panciera "(1976/1979) 45 Revolutions" book)
