REG LINDSAY :

" Born in 1929 in Parkes NSW, he will always be associated with his now legendary motorcycle ride from Adelaide to Sydney in 1951 for his winning tilt at Tim McNamara's famous talent quest. "

" Lindsay won three Golden Guitars and wrote more than 500 songs during his long career that also included two long-running television shows - The Reg Lindsay Country Hour and Reg Lindsay Country Homestead.

He also experienced some success in the United States and was the first Australian to be officially recognised with a plaque on Nashville's Walkway of Stars. .... 

One of the songs he is best remembered for is Armstrong, which was his tribute to the American astronauts and their historic moon landing and was his first big hit on the pop charts in 1971. "

Donald David "Dave" Guard :

"(born October 19, 1934, San Francisco, California - died March 22, 1991) was an American folk singer, songwriter, arranger and recording artist. Along with Nick Reynolds and Bob Shane, he was one of the founding members of The Kingston Trio.

Guard was educated in Honolulu at Punahou School in what was then the pre-statehood U.S. Territory of Hawaii. Upon completion of his final year of high school in 1952 at Menlo School, a private prep school in Menlo Park, California, he matriculated at nearby Stanford University, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Economics.

While an undergraduate at Stanford, Guard started a pickup group with Nick Reynolds and Bob Shane. Guard called his group Dave Guard and the Calypsonians, with a Weavers-style signature sound that was principally two guitars, a banjo, and rollicking vocals. Guard kept the group together after Reynolds and Shane left, changing the name of the Calypsonians to The Kingston Quartet. Then in 1957, when Reynolds and Shane agreed to team up with Guard again, the group changed its name to The Kingston Trio. Under contract with Capitol Records, the Trio became a huge commercial and influential success."

Felice Bryant (August 7, 1925 – April 22, 2003) and Boudleaux Bryant (February 13, 1920 – June 25, 1987)

"were an American wife and husband country music songwriting team who were also at the forefront of the evolution of pop music. They are perhaps best known for their song "Rocky Top" and numerous Everly Brothers hits including "All I Have to Do Is Dream" and "Bye Bye Love" and were one of the most successful writing teams in modern music."

The Bryants wrote songs for Little Jimmy Dickens as well as for popular country artist Carl Smith and at the same time released four 45 rpm singles of their own that met with modest success.

In 1957 the Bryants came to national prominence in both country music and pop music when they wrote a string of hugely successful songs for the Everly Brothers followed by successes for others such as Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. Their prolific and quality compositions would produce hit records for many stars from a variety of musical genres including Tony Bennett, Sonny James, Eddy Arnold, Bob Moore, Charley Pride, Nazareth, Jim Reeves, Leo Sayer, Simon and Garfunkel, Sarah Vaughan, the Grateful Dead, Elvis Costello, Count Basie, Dean Martin, Ray Charles, Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan (Dylan's Self Portrait album has one of Felice's tracks and one co-written with her husband), and others."
