R.E.M. Green 12-Inch Vinyl LP Promo Copy + Band Bio

Promo pressings are generally made prior to those sold in record stores so that they can be shipped out to reviewers in advance of the record's release to get reviews in publications by the street date. This album set was sent to me for just that reason, but I never played it because I had received the CD version of the album a few days earlier. 

The press kit is the original one I received with the vinyl release, a band bio of six pages (front only) and a photo of the four band members by Michael Tighe.

Vinyl is beautiful and shiny new!

DMM in the runout groove on both sides indicates this is a DIRECT METAL MASTERING pressing.

There is a gold promo stamp on the front cover.

Two stickers are on the back cover w/ UPC and track listing.

ENVIRONMENT: This item has been stored in a smoke-free and pet-free home under climate-controlled conditions since I first purchased or received it.

R.E.M.: Mike Mills (vocals, accordion, bass); Michael Stipe (vocals); Peter Buck (guitar, mandolin, drums); Bill Berry (mandolin, drums).
Additional personnel: Bucky Baxter (pedal steel guitar); Jane Scarpantoni (cello); Keith LeBlanc (percussion).
The album that found the band sandwiched between being an important cult band on the verge of major success and being the world's most successful rock band of the 90s. A tricky situation, but this album made the breakthrough and mighty Warner Brothers were behind it. R.E.M. were able to get their folky mandolin material like 'You Are The Everything' accepted on an equal footing with great pop such as 'Stand' or 'Pop Song 89' (which could have been written by Jim Morrison and titled 'Hello I Love You'). 'Orange Crush' is already an FM radio favourite, and the rest is all recent history.
