The story of Renaissance's second LP ILLUSION is a bit confusing - The original Keith Relf band broke up during recording , so one track Mr Pine ( A rather fine take as it turns out) features a completely new line up which pointed to the classic Annie Haslam version of Renaissance ) The original band then got back together to record the epic Past orbits of dust to complete the lp. Perhaps given the changes it was not surprising that record Label ISLAND UK withdrew the album ( although giving it a ILPS 9139 serial number ) As far as I can make out this copy is either a german pressing from 1970 or a Dutch pressing from 1971 ( there is no indication of date or country of manufacture on the label or sleeve) The MATRIX 1Y/2Y 1970 suggests a german Original - All text is in English and apart from the BIEM box on the label I would be tempted to think it was a 1970 UK copy possibly for Export . In any event if you like ambitious Progressive rock with very fine vocals this is a fine album that is somewhat overlooked . Sleeve design by Paul whitehead perhaps best known for his artwork for GENESIS Nursery Cryme / Foxtrot / Trespass and early Van der Graf LPs

CONDITION
Sleeve Just under Excellent with light signs of wear at edges and a little ring wear just showing on front and rear sleeves ( the colour of sleeve design is a little unforgiving) Vinyl Just under Excellent - there are two very light surface marks on the last two tracks of side one which were inaudible on my deck ( Goldring lenco)
