REPRO 78 - IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR - WILSON PICKETT charted #1 in Billboard R&B and CHARTED #21 ON THE BILLBOARD TOP 40 IN 1965. LAND OF 1000 DANCES - KENNER. REACHED #77 ON THE HOT 100 IN 1962. It was covered many times, but this is the original. Condition is "Used".
In the Midnight Hour was one of the records in my jukebox rotation. One of the reasons, why the song failed to crack the top 20, was the fact that the song's title was too suggestive of sexuality in the after hours. However, "In the Midnight Hour" has become an iconic R&B track, placing number 134 on the Rolling Stones magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All-Time. There are three songs that I consider the reason to have a set of the Atlantic records, and this is one of the three.
I bought this set new, so I know the history of the set. To my regret, I immediately sold off five records, so the colored vinyl set is not complete. This opaque green record has been played, but is in excellent condition. No scratches that I can find.
Atlantic Records was founded in 1947 and earned a reputation as an important American label specializing in jazz, R&B, and soul. Many Black artists important to the development of rock and roll got their start on Atlantic Records.
