VVAA "OU Revue-Disque 40-41" 10" privately issued by Henri Chopin for his Revue OU (40-41) in the UK, 1972. One of the 75 copies in tissue inner sleeve without magazine. ****** Rec:m ****** Offered here is OU Revue-Disque No. 40-41, in the limited edition of approximately 75 copies of just the record without the magazine. A 10-inch record, with one of Burroughs's most extreme recordings, or 1965 "Valentine Day Reading" including electronic distortions. Also featuring Brion Gysin "Poems", Bernard Heidsieck "Passa-Partout No. 4" from his most experimental series of works with the same title, Henri Chopin's fantastically glacial "Le Soleil Est Mecanique" and the mysterious J. A. da Silva "For H.C.". Record in perfect condition, in glassine cover as issued. If Henri Chopin's Revue OU is such a remarkable publication, then this is surely because it is one of the truly 'contemporary' publications of its time. Chopin's most striking achievement was to consistently identify and publish the first major works of many of the most visionary transatlantic artists exploring the new recording technologies of the fifties, sixties and seventies. Chopins OU records published an astonishing diversity of inter-generational and international experiments. These include intense electronic readings by William Burroughs and Brion Gysin; pioneering optophonetic works by the Dadaist Raoul Hausmann; crirythmes and vocalic improvisations by François Dufrene and Gil J Wolman; fragmentary poemes-partitions by Bernard Heidsieck; high-tech text-sound works by composers such as Ake Hodell and Sten Hanson; electronic abstractions by Bengt Emil Johnson; phonetic poems by Mimmo Rotella; handy tech performances on self-built electronic instruments by Hugh Davies; haunting tape-manipulations by Ladislav Novak; playful improvisations by Bob Cobbing with Anna Lockwood; dramatic monologues by Paul de Vree; electronic concrete music by Jacques Bekaert and, of course, Chopins dynamic orchestrations of the bodys factory of corporeal sounds. ****** The record is in mint conditions, but plays with minimal surface noise.
