The generic cover hides a bunch of gems! This totally undiscovered LP by an obscure group offers the cool pogo-punk of "Fighter Plane" and the fast ’77 style punk rock of "Test Tube Baby," "Bruised & Beaten," "Talk It Over," "Goodbye Carol"or even "Allies (featuring Drago D. Ramone - aka Dee Dee Ramone, R.I.P.- contributing whistles and "hoorays"), as well as gorgeous powerpop tunes like "Run Away," all of these uncomped for the moment, as far as I know (click on song titles to hear an MP3 sample).

And, for adventurous crate diggers only: "Allies" and "Run Away" both start with totally unheard open drum breaks! Check out the samples!

Rex Chainbelt were part of the late 70s / early 80s Toronto punk scene that included bands like Arson, The Battered Wives, The B-Girls, The Cads, Crash Kills Five, The Curse, The Demics, The Diodes, The Dishes, The Fits, The Forgotten Rebels, Living Proof, The Mods, The Poles, The Rage, The Scenics, The Secrets, The Sharks, Slander, Swindled, Teenage Head, Tyranna, The Ugly, The Viletones, Vital Sines, The Young Lions, Youth Youth Youth, Zro4, etc.

In fact, they shared the bill with Arson, The Demics, The Numbers and Zro4, at the Summer Splash concert at the Pylon Theatre on Friday June 29, 1979. They also played the same circuit of venues: The Turning Point, Larry's Hideaway, The Edge and The El Mocambo. They were led by ex-Poles drummer Rex Chainbelt and included another former Poles member in Stevie B. Good. The album was co-produced by Stacey Heydon who produced Teenage Head’s early records.

This record got zero distribution and must have sold about six copies which explains why it's unknown and you never see it.
