Description
Ria Ginster, sopran, and Paul Baumgartner, piano:
Schumann, Frauenliebe und -leben op. 42. Album-Set with 3 records, Swiss HMV DB 10047-49. Recorded in Zürich, 1943. Condition: 2 / 2-3, slight scuffs, lt. pimply surface. Album: VG+
Ria Ginster was born in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, studied at the conservatory in Frankfurt and completed it with a concert singer diploma. Futher studies at the Academy of Music in Berlin. From the very beginning of her career Ria Ginster sang on concert platforms of first rank in Germany, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy and France. She concentrated almost exclusively on concert performances and recitals. In 1931 she appeared in England, from 1934 - 1939 she regularly visited the United States and Canada. In 1938 she took over a class for concert singing at the Academy of Zürich where she remained more than 30 years. She died in Zürich in 1985.

1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new
2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks
2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes
3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible
3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible
4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible
5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.

About me :
Since 1966 I collected 78 rpm records, principally classical pianists. I was looking in many, many second-hand and charitiy-chops, collectors fair, fleamarkets and so on in France, Germany, Austria , Italy and of course in Switzerland. I had always a good contact with others collectors in Great Britain and in the States. Since 1970 I was for a long time member of the City of London Phonograph and Gramophone Society, from 1985 member of the Schellack-Schallplatten-Sammler-Verein, Vienna and from 1990 until today member of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives IASA, section DE/CH. I’m not a « really » record collector, more an admirer of the pianists and a music lover. If you have any problem about 78 rpm records or a want list ( I never found any record of Grieg ( except the Historic HMV ), Ilona Eibenschütz, Alexander Michalowski and the legendary Pathé of Bernhard Stavenhagen ) please inform me.
