Offered is one of the great rarities in recorded music: an Original First Edition Pressing of the self-titled Debut (and only) studio album of rock icon Richie Valens.
Richie died in what may be the single most tragic event in rock and roll history, known as "The Day the Music Died." On February 3, 1959, Richie, Buddy Holly and J.P. ("The Big Bopper") Richardson all had their lives ended in a terrible small plane crash in Iowa during very cold winter weather.

Del-Fi Records posthumously released this album in March 1959, about one month after Richie's passing, and he was later (2001) inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Richie was only 17 years old on the Day the Music Died.

THE VINYL -  EX :  Lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear, both of the LP surfaces retain all of their original gloss.
 
Evident are some light marks from sleevewear, and some shallow hairlines. I did a playgrade on these, and I heard no audio interference from them. 

Undamaged, sea green and black Del-Fi labels with bright color (please see photos).
 
The record has been carefully handled, infrequently played, and the mono audio playback is impressive, quite close to what it was on the day it was pressed.



THE COVER -   EX :  Please see photos / well-stored with some minor scuffing / present in some minor age-related yellowing, confined largely to the edges of the back cover / on the back cover, lightly written (in pencil) is "$3.98" (likely the orginal purchase price) / bright colors / all of the seams, including the spine, are intact / no other writing, paper loss, paper tears, dirt, or stains.
    


We have placed both the cover and the LP into separate, protective plastic sleeves.
