RARE original Apple Records very first High Fidelity STEREO press released in 1975 in Chile by Apple Records, made and distributed by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records, Chile), licensed from Apple Record, USA, through EMI Records Limited, USA, catalog number S-APPLE-2029, with hand etched matrix numbers YEX 939 1 in Side A and YEX 940 1 in Side 2. It’s interesting to notice this copy has 1/1 stampers!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“Goodnight Vienna” was originally released in November 1974 and we had to wait until 1975 to see this record released here in Chile and like still usual in the period we got it with an UNIQUE COVER!!! The cover is made of two single pieces of cardboard for front and back covers kept held by an outer plastic bag, which’s also part of the cover. Front and back covers keep strictly the original US artwork with the tracklist and credits of the credits written in English only, with the information about this Chilean issue at bottom edge of back cover. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in English only, with full credits for songwriters, production and additional information about licenses, and lettering is blue, not black like the rim text. It’s very interesting to notice that in cover the catalog number of this Chilean record is “S-APPLE-2029” but in labels it’s “SAPPLE-2029”. In cover it’s informed this record was made and distributed by “EMI Odeon Chilena, S.A.” but in labels it’s by “Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A.”, both names used for “EMI Odeon Records, Chile. You can also notice an error, the credits for songwriters of “Snookeroo” are correctly for “Elton John-Bernie Taupin” in back cover but in label it’s for “JOHN TAUPIN”, it has the “-” to separate both names omitted. So, here you have the chance to get and own this RARE PRESS of this classic album by Ringo Starr, with UNIQUE COVER, some other UNIQUE CHARASTERISTICS and 1/1 STAMPERS (!), sure A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Ringo Starr and also The Beatles!!! WOW!!! And WHAT A GREAT CONDITION!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, clean, with some wear in the edges more evident in corners, with the top right corner cut (maybe the corner was damaged, so someone decided to cut it), some faint blemishes and marks of humidity, with also some faint creases. The outer plastic bag is present and in VG- or VG condition, with evident wear, light scratches and many rips, more present in the mouth edge, but the plastic bag has protected very well the fragile cardboards and it’s also part of the cover, so I’m not removing it. The record is in nice VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many soft scuffs, hairlines and some light scratches, hard to see at first sight, with a very slight warp, which don’t affect play at all, most of the grade is because of some marks which could make you think the record is dirty, but it’s not, maybe an ultrasonic cleaning could “remove” those marks. Labels on both sides are in NM- or NM condition, absolutely clean and clear, no marks, no writings at all, only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX- or EX condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant light crackles, more evident in the silent parts between tracks, and some occasional soft clicks here and there, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to end. Overall, a nice record, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds and audiophiles, but still with a nice cover, a glossy record, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 47 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector!!! WOW!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE characteristics, UNIQUE ERROR, 1/1 STAMPERS and the fact it’s complete with the outer plastic bag!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!! Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
