Description
The Rio Rockers Mexicali Baby with the lead vocal by Rusty Isabell b/w Mexican Rock 'n' Roll Instrumental 7" PROMO DEBUT RECORD single on Capitol F3884 from 1958. There's so many great things going for this 45, first off, it's on the RARE yellow Capitol PROMOTIONAL DEBUT RECORD label, of which I've only seen one other prior to this (Tommy Watts' "Grasshopper Jump"), PLUS the famed, rockin' piano player, Esquerita, played on this 45, and obviously adds a lot to the overall sound of these sides. Of course Mexicali Baby clearly has a HOT Rockabilly vibe, as well as an overall spooky sound going on, and even reminds me somewhat of the Munsters TV show theme song. Go ahead, go listen to the Munsters theme on YouTube, I'll wait... See, there is a very cool similarity. In fact, someone should do a little research, as this may be the place from where what is now called the Horror Punk genre clawed it's way out of the primordial ooze of Rockabilly to go on later to give birth to The Misfits. Mexicali Baby does have a sound that is perfect for the Halloween season!
Just to answer the question, yes I did previously list this on eBay, but the winning bidder didn't complete the transaction after 2 separate failed payment attempts, so here's your second chance at this GREAT and RARE 45!!!
The labels on this 45 state FOR PROMOTIONAL USE!!! The yellow labeled vinyl on this 45 is visually in very good - very good plus condition with a few whispy sleeve marks and light scratches, but plays so much more cleanly than the visual grade would make you think. You can hear 1+ minute sound samples of each side/song below, which is from the actual record in this auction. Please take a look at the photos below of each side of the label to view the label condition. This is a really RARE & COOL Rio Rockers/Esquerita/Rockabilly collectible, make sure you bid today!!!
