RL HOT MIX Led Zeppelin II ROBERT LUDWIG Hot Mix 1st U.S. Pressing on Atlantic Records.
Infamous Hot mix with RL and SS on BOTH sides of vinyl (see photos). matte cover with SD 8236 catalog number.
Play tested twice to determine condition!!! Played with treble up to hear crackle more accurately.
Columbia Terre Haute, Indiana pressing Plant information as indicated by the CTH on labels.
VINYL in strong VG- condition, has several light marks on surface that cause background crackle with occasional pops throughout. Quieter section are more noticeable, but record play strong throughout with NO SKIPS or STICKS. Crackle especially noticeable at fade out of "Thank You" at very end with some brief repeating crackle, but the crackle is not too loud and does not overwhelm music experience. The beginning of "Bring It On Home" during quieter section has louder clicking before drums kick in.
COVER is solid VG+ with staining/yellowing in white areas, rubbing on bottom seam with 1/2" split starting at opening, top seam solid, top seam of outside gatefold flap has chipping and rubbing especially 6" from opening. Spine fully readable and intact with yellowing.

If this doesn't have "SS RL" etched in the run-outs then it is a repress - remastered at Atlantic, rather than Sterling Sound. Around 200,000ish pressings were done of Robert Ludwig's 'high mix' which, like Hendrix's 'Ladyland' 1st masters, caused some poor-quality phonograph needles to 'skip'. Thus, a repress ordered by Ertegün at Atlantic.
