Good shine on the lacquer. Good punchy bass and great guitar high tones. Great example of the RL Hot Mix.
Side 1:
1 skips.
A1:Background noise 2.5 on a scale of 1-10 not noticeable while music is playing more noticeable between songs or quiet parts of the song.
A:2 BG noise level 2.5 but has a repetitive tick for only about 3-4 rotations.
A3: BG noise: 2 but there are several low volume areas on this song where you can hear them more, but still a 2.
A4: 1 skip at the very beginning as the music is fading in. BG noise: 2 but there are several low volume areas on this song where you can hear them more, but still a 2.
Side 2:
1 skip. Clear shine on lacquer, like a mirror. Minimal surface scratches. Great, feel it in your chest, bass.
B1: 3 on a scale of 1-10 for Background noise. More noticeable in quiet parts.
B2: BG noise: 2, Rotating tick for about 5 rotations or so.
B3: BG noise: 4.5 but only ticks not static.
B4: BG noise: 2 but higher in the quiet parts (Moby Dick)
B5: BG noise: 2.5. At the 12 o’clock position there is a short scratch at the very end that has a slip and ticks for the next few rotations. See photos.
Cover: VG- to G+ seem splits at the top (not the bottom) of the front and rear of the gatefold. No Hype sticker showing it was a very early pressing. Characters on the spine are clearly visible. No drawings, ink marks or names on the cover. Inside seam does not show any seam splits.
The PR-Pressman pressing is one of the most sought after version of the RL. 12 million in sales and only the first 200,000 or so are RL SS copies (less than 2%) and a majority of these are poor to fair condition. This version of this album has become one of the holy grails for audiophiles. Some mint condition copies have gone for $4500.
