Vanguard VSD 79339 — stereo LP; gold label pressing Condition On a grading scale where NM is as good as it gets (factory pristine), this LP plays with excellent fidelity with a play grade of NM- or better when played on a sensitive system (top-of-line Basis turntable, Vector arm). The album cover is EX+ condition with with the start of a seam split at the upper right edge of the cover. Info Zarthus was recorded in 1974, and one of Mr. Basho's classic recordings. Ramnad Baghavan plays mrdangam (South Indian drum) which provides an Indian color. Two cuts are dedicated to Meher Baba, Pete Townshend's guru. See the great description of Mr. Basho's work at allmusic.com that describes his style and influences. In part, Basho utilized dissonance, unusual tunings, and influences from all over the world. His work requires some time and effort to absorb, and, relative to John Fahey & Leo Kotte, is more colored by Eastern and Indian modal influences. LP Grading, Payment & Shipping Terms, Etc. Shipment via Priority Mail, which some feel incurs less mischief while in transit, is available within the USA as an extra cost option. Payments must clear prior to shipment.
