We have no idea why Robert Mitchum took so much flak for recording this album. Granted, no Frank Sinatra, he --- but, taken for who he is and what he attempts to do here -- a novelty/personality album, really,  this is a true classic. Mitchum actually does a pretty decent job of squeezing every last ounce of juice  from his modest vocal chords, and the Calypso band backing him up is supportive, and super-tight one. And, oh, lest we forget --- the album sports one of the slickest,  sexiest, suggestive, evocative and imaginative, not to mention: the most male-chauvinist and downright reedy photos in the entire history of recorded music. It is one of those albums that you really, really want to frame and hang somewhere in your living room (or bedroom…)

Finally, the music is so totally jovial, extrovert,  and life-affirmative that it’ll win you over whether you want it or not. "From the logical point of view" is one of the funniest things we've heard, ever.  This is the music for sunny Caribbean mornings, and for the joy of life.  Much to his credit, Mitchum doesn't take himself seriously. Why should we?

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(e)           Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD+++.

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-        Cover has a partially split bottom seam (between 1 and 2 inches  / 2.5 to 5 centimeters)

-        Cover has a partially split top seam (between 1 and 2 inches  / 2.5 to 5 centimeters); This split seam was delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape

-        Back cover has a few yellowish dust speckles scattered here and there (these tiny spots are not overly obtrusive or distracting)

-        Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-        Cover has a tiny "wrinkle" (crease)  in one of the corners.

-        A tiny scratch mark noted in the spindle hole area on front panel

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No yellowing from aging

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
