Brilliant 1960s recordings made by Pete Welding of two great Delta Blues artists who were both heavily influenced by Tommy Johnson.

It really is a wonderful thing to hear these old songs updated & done in an electric band format.

The Robert Nighthawk session was recorded in Chicago in 1964 and his sublime slide guitar and vocals are supported by John Wrencher on harmonica and Johnny Young on guitar.

Tracks are: Black Angel Blues, Maggie Campbell, Crowing Rooster Blues, I'm Getting tired, Bricks In My Pillow, Merry Christmas Baby & Crying won't Help You

Another track from the same year - Kansas City Blues features Little Walter on harp.

Houston Stackhouse was recorded in Dundee Mississippi in 1967 and he is back by Robert Nighthawk on guitar and James "Peck" Curtis on drums.

Tracks are: Big Road Blues, Cool Water Blues, Big Fat Mama Blues & Take A Little Walk With Me

This stuff is real deal no frills down home blues at its best.
