ROBERT WOOD and WOODLANDS Live 1974 Hand-numbered BLUE WAX
Robert Wood is playing a mighty cool Deagan Electravibe on the cover of the record – and he uses the instrument in these great fuzzy ways throughout the record – playing the keys almost like a distorted version of a Fender Rhodes, with a clanging tone that reminds us a lot of the Stark Reality at times! Woods also plays some more conventional vibes – with lots of great jazzy currents – and although his songs do feature his own vocals at the start, they oven step out into longer instrumental passages that have a strong jazz sound on the solos! Wood is backed by a tight bassist and drummer – who propel the best moments with a lot of energy – and titles include "Woodlands Walk/Strength", "Pollution Boomerang", "Tombac", "Star", and "Funny Fairl". (Pressed on deep blue marbled vinyl – with lots of cool inserts!)
