Description
ROBIN LENT (with FOCUS) - “Scarecrow’s Journey” Vinyl 12” LP (Stereo 1971); NEPENTHA label LP - Cat. No. 6437002 (UK Issue); VG to EX Condition.
I have a vinyl collection stretching back 50-60 years, and will now be selling some rarities.
This is a 1971 album by the obscure Cuban-born singer/songwriter Robin Lent on an equally obscure label. Nepentha LPs in this condition are few and far between - here is a rare chance for avid collectors!
Robin spent much of his career in Europe and England as well as California and this album was recorded in Holland.
Robin Lent plays guitar & harmonica as well as vocals. Members of the great Dutch rock band Focus appear on this LP, Thijs van Leer plays piano & flute and the wonderful Jan Akkerman features on electric guitar. The arrangements are sometimes folksy and introspective and sometimes lush and loud with full orchestration.
There weren’t many albums issued on Nepentha and they are highly sought-after artefacts. An album by ‘Dulcimer’ on the Nepentha label just sold on e-Bay for £155.
I haven’t seen another copy of this album but am not attached to the artist or his music nowadays, so after all this time in my collection the LP is better in the hands of a collector or Robin Lent enthusiast!
This 1971 LP is an English pressing (sleeve printed by Howards Printers (Slough) Ltd). The Catalogue Number is 6437002, the disc labels disclose the numbers 63470121 (side 1) and 6347022 (side two).
Stamped on the run-out groove is: NEPS 902 1v // 1 v 420 (side 1) and NEPS 902 2v // 1 v 420 (side 2). Engraved on the run out groove of both sides is: 6437002 63100 02
The disc is in *excellent* condition, virtually unplayed. The album has a plain white inner sleeve and the colourful sleeve is a gatefold design, the inner face having the lyrics and full album details in a written hand, presumably that of Robin Lent.
The sleeve has some ring wear and small scuffs but no significant damage. All my albums have been carefully stored at room temperature in proper LP shelving.
Inspection at my home in north Birmingham B24 is welcome; if posted it will be safely mailed in proprietary stiff album packaging.
Payment by cash on collection, Banker’s Draft, (cleared) cheque or PayPal, please.
