Description
This is an original 1963 album by Robin Ward titled “Wonderful Summer” on DOT RECORDS and in the very rare
“STEREO” format. According to Neil Umphred of 1996 Goldmine Price Guide fame, DOT made 1000 of these albums
with only 50 being in the Stereo format. This is why many collectors have never come across a STEREO original
“Wonderful Summer” album.
The sound quality is luscious with record arrangers Perry Botkin Jr. and George Tipton placing the sound of waves
softly falling to the shore on the first few lines of Robin’s song. This is not re-recording but rather an attempt to
improve the original recording by making it more of a “Surf or Beach Record” ala Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. And
believe me, it works extremely well.
The record jacket is graded at NEAR-MINT 8/9 with gorgeous seams and spine and a virgin white back. The printing on
the spine is in beautiful shape.
The record has shiny vinyl without needle, surface or paper scratches. It’s very pretty vinyl and it also grades at
NEAR-MNT 8/9.
The record has been listened to by me and is indeed stereo. The cover states “STEREO” at the top while the record
labels state “STEREOPHONIC”. Both the cover and record number is DLP 25555. (Mono is DLP 3555 in case you
wondered)
THE WHITE SPOTS BELOW WHICH SHOW UP ON THE RECORD ARE FROM THE CAMERA FLASH! :)
Both sides of the cover and both labels are shown below!
