ROCKABILLY RARITY - CHARLIE RICH - LONELY WEEKENDS LP
SAM PHILLIPS SUN SUBSIDIARY LABEL - PHILLIPS INTERNATIONAL
Title: LONELY WEEKENDS WITH CHARLIE RICH
Artist: CHARLIE RICH Label: PHILLIPS INTERNATIONAL # PLP 1970 - MONO Date: 1960 Condition: VINYL - STRONG VG+, LABEL - VG++, COVER - STRONG VG+, SLEEVE - ORIG. STOCKAdd'l Comments: WHAT AN INCRDIBLE FIND! FOR AUCTION THIS WEEK IS THE CROWN JEWEL OF SERIOUS EARLY ROCK/ROCKABILLY COLLECTIONS. THIS 1960 CHARLIE RICH LP ON THE SHORT LIVED PHILLIPS INTERNATIONAL LABEL (WHICH WAS A SUBSIDIARY OF SAM PHILLIPS' FAMOUS SUN LABEL) IS JUST A PURE TREAT TO LISTEN TO!
FOR STARTERS, THIS IS AN ALL ORIGINAL, FIRST US PRESSING; NO REISSUE, IMPORT OR COUNTERFEIT PRESSING. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!
CONDITION: THE VINYL IS GREAT! THERE ARE A FEW VERY LIGHT MARKS FROM SLEEVE CONTACT THAT DO NOT AFFECT THE PLAYABILITY OF THE LP. THERE IS THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF A STATIC BACKGROUND NOISE DURING THE QUIETEST PASSAGES - BY NO MEANS OVERWHELMING. EVEN BETWEEN TRACKS THE BACKGROUND NOISE IS VERY, VERY MINIMAL. ETCHED IN THE DEAD WAX ARE 'PH-158' AND 'PH-159' AND 'PP' ON BOTH SIDES. THIS IS NOT A MINT COPY BUT ONE THAT ANY SERIOUS COLLECTOR WILL BE VERY PLEASED TO OWN!
THE LABELS ARE CLEAN AND BRIGHT - SIDE ONE HAS THE DATE 10/60 WRITTEN IN GREEN MARKER. VERY CLOSE INSPECTION SHOWS SOME VERY LIGHT MARKS AROUND THE SPINDLE HOLE. BECAUSE OF THE PALE BLUE COLOR OF THE LABEL, THEY ARE NOT AN ISSUE.
THE COVER RETAINS 98% OF ITS ORIGINAL FRONT SIDE LAMINATE. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE OF THE FRONT COVER IS A FEW VERY SMALL ROUGH AREAS ON THE OPEN END AND SMALL CORNER BUMPS TOP AND BOTTOM (RIGHT SIDE). THERE ARE NO OTHER SPLITS OR FLAKING. THE BACK COVER SHOWS LIGHT OVERALL STORAGE/AGE WEAR, ALSO VERY SMALL 10/60 DATE AND RED INITIALS (PJS). THE TOP LEFT CORNER HAS A WRINKLE (DOES NOT AFFECT THE FRONT).
FOR THE RARITY AND PRICY-NESS OF THIS SUPER LP, I HAVE TRIED TO DESCRIBE ANYTHING THAT COULD BE VIEWED AS A PROBLEM BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE NEW OWNER WILL BE VERY HAPPY, GUARANTEED! PLEASE EMAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING. LOW STARTING BID AND NO RESERVE.
THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK!
Near Mint (NM) - "It looks like it just came from a retail store and was opened for the first time." NM records are shiny, with no visible defects. Writing, stickers, or other markings cannot appear on the label, nor can any spindle marks from someone trying to blindly put the record on the turntable.
Very Good Plus (VG+) - These records may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK, too, such as telltale marks around the center hole, but repeated play has not misshaped the center hole. There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticed.
Very Good (VG) - These records have more obvious flaws. The lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches, deep enough to feel with a fingernail. When played, a VG record has surface noise, perhaps even an occasional audible light scratch, especially in soft passages and during a song’’s intro and ending.
Lesser grades such as Good (G), Good Plus (G+), or Very Good Minus (VG-) will be addressed at time of listing.
