RODE STEWART – GASOLINE ALLEY
Really fantastic copy of this VERTIGO SWIRL classic. In Tip top condition.
“With the help of his drinking buddies and members of the Faces (often one and the same), Rod Stewart made his breakout hit album, GASOLINE ALLEY. The marriage of bottleneck guitar and mandolin, abundant barrelhouse piano, and Rod the Mod's passionate rasp were the beginnings of a sound associated with Stewart up through the mid-'70s. After covering the Stones, Ewan McColl and Mike D'Abo on his debut album, Stewart included tunes by Dylan ("Only A Hobo"), Bobby Womack ("It's All Over Now"), and Elton John ("Country Comforts") for the follow-up.”

SLEEVE: EX-
Sleeve would grade as EX+/NM if it were not for the fact that someone has used blue marker pern to fill in rod stewarts name on the front cover. Several other bits are shaded in blue (One side of the top of the lamp post, Rods name inside). However, all colouring is inside the lines and does not look out of place at all. I would argue that they actually improve the cover. The sleeve is sharp and clean with no staining, edgewear, ringwear or any other deterioration. The spine is superb with only slight signs of having been broken. There is some very, very slight feathering at the aperture but that’s it. Truly remarkable.
RECORD: EX-
Record looks really great. There are a couple of scuff marks congruent with the record being removed from the sleeve. There are 3 hairlines on side B that do not affect playback. Plays almost perfectly with occasional crackling and the odd pop. This could probably be removed by deep cleaning the record. Amazing!!!
The above record grading is based on Record Collector magazine system:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
