This is an ultra rare Mint+ 1977 white label Australian promo copy of Sexto Rodriguez’s Best Of LP titled ‘At His Best’ released exclusively in Australia by Blue Goose Music, catalogue number BGM 001.
According to the notes on the back cover in 1977 Melbourne independent record label Blue Goose Music licensed five songs from Rodriguez’s debut album ‘Cold Fact’, along with three songs from his second album 'Coming From Reality' and three previously unreleased songs (that had originally been intended for his third album) and compiled them all in this 11 track ‘Best Of’. Those three previously unreleased tracks were: "Can't Get Away", "I'll Slip Away", and "Street Boy"
Bootleg copies of this LP eventually sold enough in South Africa for the album to be classified platinum in the late 70’s.
Blue Goose Music signed a distribution deal with CBS Records who released this album with the CBS gold promo stamp on the back cover and the white labels include the text…’This record is manufactured for the purpose of promotion only. It remains the property of CBS Records AustraliaLimited and is not for sale.
The album has been stored in a plastic sleeve in climate controlled room for over 40 years and has never been played so the vinyl and labels are pristine. There is a very feint ring mark on the back cover due to compression from the albums either side.
The LP was only taken out of its sleeve for the first time today to be photographed.
