Description

This is a fine copy of the RARE 1984 45 by Roky Erickson, released on the Austin, Texas, based Dynamic label.  Erickson made his name as the lead singer of the legendary '60s group the 13th Floor Elevators.  After a mental breakdown in the late '60s and a stay in a Houston psychiatric hospital, Erickson reemerged in the latter half of the 1970s with a few 7"s, followed by two 1980-81 LPs produced by ex-Creedence bassist Stu Cook that share many of the same tracks.  This 45 was his next release.  The a-side is a fierce garage rocker, while "Starry Eyes" is closer to folk rock with a Buddy Holly-influenced vocal.  This version of "Don't Slander Me," it should be noted, is a different (and to my ear far superior) one from the version on the 1986 LP of the same name.  Both tracks on this single appeared the next year on the five song French EP, Clear Night for Love.  Visually, the disc is clean with a little light scuffing.  It plays with a little distortion late on side A (it is perhaps more noticeable when listening through earbuds, which I do when grading discs), and otherwise with light surface noise at the start of both tracks (EX).  The record comes in a generic white sleeve.

I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades.  All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets.  The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves.  I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.

If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
