Selling some of my jazz LPs!
Original UK issue on the rare Esquire label, from 1961. Record is very good/excellent. Cover has some wear but no rips or writing.
Recorded and released in 1961, Kirk’s Work was one of Kirk’s first albums as a leader. Kirk was a relative unknown among the hard-bop scene, and his persona had yet to dominate perception of him. Most of his solos he sticks to tenor sax, and the album is tighter, more straightforward, and more compact than much of his later work. It’s considered one of his classics, and rightly so. Funky Hammond from Jack McDuff and hard bop drumming from Arthur Taylor make this relatively unknown LP a worthy addition.
