Description
1965 UK Decca LK 4733 'Out Of Our Heads' LP in mono.
The non-flipback sleeve has a laminated front which extends back round onto the spine.
Uncannily similar condition to my other current Stones listings as It's in strong and solid shape with no rips, splits, tears, writing or sticker blemishes (probably the three Stones LPs I'm auctioning came from the same source but that info is lost in time!). Really nice square corners with hardly any rubbing. Has some ringwear and the common laminate creasing due to the plastic shrinking over time. Also the 'plain' rear has acquired some paint rubbing and the inside of the mouth has some foxing.
As such the sleeve gets 7.5 /10 for condition.
The Decca mono 'red bordered' inner sleeve is polythene lined. It's pretty tight and clean yet with some colour wear. The Union Flag sticker was obviously added later and to maybe hide a blemish but it adds a nice vibe. The inner sleeve is worthy of 8 /10.
On to the record itself which is flat and bright and with clean silver on red labels. On my scale it reads 137g so is of a nice medium weight. The matrices on the dead wax runouts are XARL-6973-9B and XARL-6974-10A for Sides 1 and 2 respectively which is an unusual format.
Although the photos don't show it the labels at the holes show evidence of a healthy amount of spins. I've angled the disc in room daylight at the window and then inspected it under a bright light. I see some light marks and hairlines on the otherwise fine playing surfaces so visually I'm plumbing for 7.5 /10 for condition of the vinyl.
By way of a playtest I'm listening to it now on my Linn / Naim hi-fi system. I can't hear much wrong, just some occasional light static from the needle picking up dust but no undue pops or skips. As such for aural quality I'm giving it 8 /10.
