ROLLING STONES ''BETWEEN THE BUTTONS'' 1967 ALBUM VERY RARE AND SCARCE 1st UK PRESSING CAT No. LK 4852 ((MONO)) UNBOXED DECCA LABELS! (TOP NEAR PERFECT AUDIO) (HARDER TO FIND 1st MONO) Awesom 1st James Upton Laminated Front Cover! LOOK EARLY ''1A'' ''2A'' Matrix Endings! ''1'' to ''1'' Mother Stampers! Earliest for the best audio experience!
Another from my personal collection! Purchased and stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the record sleeve and cover for over 40 years! This is how I have always stored my records! Earliest 1st UK pressing very rare in this condition. Looks and sounds only played a minimal amount of times only in my opinion! Play tested three times prior to listing at very loud volume, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge, this vinyl plays absolutely stunning throughout in my personal opinion, Despite the odd light surface marks seen angled to the light, these have little if no effect on the playback that I heard,, I was quite amaized that there was none of the normal nasty crackle in quiet parts and importantly no loud clicks or pops heard due to the deeper cut grooves found only on these earliest pressings ! The audio is special in my opinion very vibrant clear and rich bassey feel and a dream to listen to indeed! Audio graded at least excellent plus to very near mint in my opinion! The cover is also in top condition super glossy clean and straight 1st issue!
Between the Buttons is the fifth UK and seventh US studio album by The Rolling Stones and was released in 1967 as the follow-up to the ambitious Aftermath.
Recorded in two spurts in Los Angeles in August 1966 and London that November, Between the Buttons caught The Rolling Stones at a period where they were moving more into arty territory and away from their R&B roots. With the release of The Beatles' Revolver, The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds and Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde during 1966, the parameters of rock music had been expanded considerably and The Rolling Stones - in particular Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, as the main songwriters - were forced to keep up.
Conscious that they had to progress beyond Aftermath, the Stones follow-up - betraying influences drawn from the British pop of contemporaries like The Kinks - was Between the Buttons. Although Jagger has publicly denounced the album over the years, it is still highly prized by most contemporary critics and considered somewhat of a curio for most Rolling Stones fans.
Much like Aftermath, Between the Buttons saw some differences in its UK and US versions. The UK edition (how producer Andrew Loog Oldham and The Rolling Stones intended it) was issued in January 1967 on Decca Records, concurrently with a separate single, "Let's Spend the Night Together" b/w "Ruby Tuesday". Because of common practice in the British record industry at the time, the single did not appear on the album. Generally well-received (although the critics took note of their influences), Between the Buttons reached #3 in the UK.
In the US, "Let's Spend the Night Together" and "Ruby Tuesday" were slotted onto the album, with "Back Street Girl" and "Please Go Home" getting the boot. With "Ruby Tuesday" reaching #1, Between the Buttons shot to #2 in the US, going gold.
Brian Jones continues his experiments in exotic instruments on this album, playing electric and acoustic guitars, harmonica, recorder, piano, trumpet, trombone, and banjo-ukulele.
Additionally, Between the Buttons would prove to be the last album produced by Andrew Loog Oldham, with whom The Rolling Stones would have a creative falling-out in mid-1967.
In the years following its release, Between the Buttons somehow became overlooked. Today, however, many critics and fans have come to appreciate the album's eclectic qualities and a wealth of obscure gems, making it a unique album in The Rolling Stones' released catalogue, one that more or less abandoned the Stones blues based and featured more consistent songwriting than their previous efforts!

The vinyl
On initial visual inspection this looks superbe and still retains its super glossy sheen from new! The important thing to note, is that this is the original very very thick and chunky type of vinyl only found on earliest pressings!
In strong light i can see some/very few feint surface marks/scratches/scuffs fortunately these have very little if no effect on the absolutely stunning audio quality that i could hear on my systems! any other marks that could possibly be seen in the form of light whispy marks would be caused by the record been slid in and out of its sleeve! Importantly there are no marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops that I heard at all!
The Audio Quality
Firstly I would like to point out that the audio quality on this particular vinyl is exceptionaly vibrant. Superb feel!
I have played this through track for track prior to listing at very loud volume (importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge) The audio is truly awesome on all frequencies! I was quite amaized at how clear and vibrant the audio is (no) signs of grooveware and (no) distortion (no) skips or jumps or any nasty audio interfearance that I heard. To be highly critical if listened at extreemely loud volume very light background static or minor ticks may be heard in one or two isolated quiet places only but certainly not noticed at normal listening volume on my system. I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! this audio is absolutely awesome graded at the very top very, very near mint audio quality very rare for a vinyl that is more than 42 years old like this!
I would grade the audio at least Excellent plus to very Near Mint (mono) audio
The labels
These are the original red Unboxed Decca labels Earliest feature the (familier groove) are superbe (see photo)!! there is (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round minimal spidering can be seen angled to the light indicating that this has been played but certainly not over played! (see photos)! made in england. is featured (only UK press)This carries the unboxed decca logo (only 1st press)
The original laminated front only cover
This cover is the original laminated with clarifoll and printed by james upton England, (birmingham & london) (only early press). (see photo) this is a great example super glossy appearance! Amaizingly I can't see any major nasty creases worth to mention on this cover, unbeleivable! Any crease lines are at the edges and at the spine edges only to mention and are small lines only. (only angled to the light can any very very light ringware possibly be seen any storageware is very minor indeed! (only really noticeable if you look for this). (see photo) has no splits or tares on the edges which is normally common for an album of 42 years old! The corners are lovely and square the spine is superbe very clear writing with slight flattening with age (see photo) corners crisp and sharp i have tried to highlight this in photos (very rarely ever seen like this) the writing "The Rolling Stones "can clearly be seen on the spine!! the rear is exceptionaly clean (normally seen very grubby) (see photo) (no) nasty names written!! these covers are very very scarce especially in this awesome condition rarely seen!!! strong and straight original! This cover must be graded at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion!
The record sleeve
This is the original Decca poly lined sleeve Nice clean crisp vibrant colours. There is light general creasing with age only. (normally seen faded with age) please note the vinyl is now stored separately from the sleeve and cover!
