UNBELEIVABLE ARCHIVE COPY! 

Another from my personal collection! This album has been in my collection since purchased from new in 1966 (over over 44 years ago) It was initially only ever played to record tape and then it has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover and sleeve for protection, this is how I have always stored my records. This would be the slightly later 1st UK pressing. This is complete with the original Robert Stace gatefold with the original booklet fully attached. This gatefold is awesome super glossy in very near perfect condition throughout! The original Mono Decca Record Sleeve is also near perfect! On visual and indeed the audio inspection the vinyl looks and sounds like it has hardly ever been played at all, in fact I can only ever recall playing this to record to tape  and never touched it until prior to listing! Unbeleivably rare to find. After playing this vinyl at loud volume on a top system prior to listing, and I usred a dedicated mono cartridge, this audio sounded absolutely perfect throughout! Audio graded as near as mint as could be in my opinion!!!

Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) is the first official compilation album by The Rolling Stones, released in late 1966 on Decca Records in the U.K. and in the U.S. on London Records, the band's American distributor at the time. The album, including most of the band's hit singles, appeared in the U.K. seven months after its American release. The two releases featured different cover art and tracklisting. The front cover for the American release was used for the rear photo on the UK edition.!!!

The US release

Reaching #3 on the US charts, where it remained for two years, Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) proved to be a big smash and currently remains a popular Rolling Stones retrospective!!!!!.

In August 2002 this US edition of Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) was reissued in a new remastered CD and SACD digipak by ABKCO Records, with the British version remaining unavailable!!.

 U.K. release (This pressing)

The UK Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) includes tracks released after the American edition appeared. The Rolling Stones' debut 1963 single, a cover of Chuck Berry's "Come On", was included, but its more successful follow-up, "I Wanna Be Your Man" - composed by rivals (although in reality as friends) Lennon-McCartney - was left off the album.!!!!!!

Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) reached #4 in the UK charts!!!.

The album has been out of print in the UK for years, although it was officially released on CD in Japan for a time!!.

The Vinyl

On initial inspection of the playing surface this almost looks like new in my opinion! This is the original thick and chunky slab of vinyl that can only be found on the earliest pressings and these have much deeper grooves than later press. Later press are much more flimsier and less robust! To be honest I can barely even see a blemish on the playing surface, any marks that could possibly ever be seen angled in strong light would be whyspy sleeve removal only!

 (NO) AUDIO SOUNDING MARKS OR SCRATCHES AT ALL (VERY VERY RARE TO FIND LIKE THIS AFTER 44 YEARS) I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!

The Audio Quality

I played this vinyl through one time at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge, from the moment that the needle hit the playing surface it is obvious that this vinyl has hardly ever been played more than a handful of times only. Absolutely stunning rich and vibrant true mono audio at its very best! This audio is graded as near mint on my systems!

 CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT  WITH NO SIGNS OF DISTORTION OR GROOVEWARE AT ALL, !! THIS PLAYS LIKE NEW! THE BEST THAT YOU WILL FIND!! Even in between tracks it is almost silent,sounds like a new vinyl!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static\tick (not consistant throughout the audio) Please remember that this is a 44 year old vinyl that would have originaly been played on a 44 year old system!

It is important to note that this vinyl has been stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover for over 40 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static\crackle\ticks. A constant clean before each play is highly recomended! this will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original Decca Mono poly lined sleeve, in absolutely superbe condition without and splits or tares very minor fading with age only is stored seperately from the vinyl 

The Cover and Six Page Booklet

This is the original Robert Stace gatefold cover with the fully intact six page booklet! This is in absolutely stunning tip top condition! The laminated front has amaizingly (no) real creases worth to mention at all!   The rear is also very near perfect, super glossy appeasrance looks like a new cover in my opinion only slightly flattened at the spine with age but absolutely no marks or nasty names and no splits or tares! TRY TO FIND A BETTER 1ST PRESS COVER LIKE THIS AFTER 44 YEARS!!!!! (SEE PHOTOS)!!!!!!) I would grade this at least excellent plus to ver near mint!! unbeleivably rare to find, never need to upgrade!
