from Alex Henderson, All Music Guide: The number of Rolling Stones bootlegs that surfaced in the '70s is truly staggering. Whether a Stones show was being bootlegged in Oslo, Seattle, Dublin, New Orleans, or Tokyo, it seemed like new Stones bootlegs were coming out every week in both Europe and North America. One of the countless bootlegs that was recorded in 1973 was The Rolling Stones in Exotic Honolulu, which documented a January 23, 1973, gig at the Honolulu International Center in Hawaii. The sound quality isn't perfect, but it's decent -- and the LP easily captures the vitality of Mick Jagger and friends in their prime. The Stones sound inspired throughout this record, and they bring plenty of guts and passion to gems that range from "Gimme Shelter," "Brown Sugar," and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" to "Tumbling Dice," "Bitch," "Rip This Joint," and "You Can't Always Get What You Want." This recording was also released as the CBM bootleg Honolulu '73.
