Description
HERE is a fabulous first pressing of the iconic Let It Bleed album by The Rolling Stones on UK Decca vinyl from 1969 - a highly desirable unboxed mono copy complete with poster, inner and sleeve sticker. The front laminated stickered single sleeve is in hard-to-fault EX+ condition with no unwanted writing, rips or tears, amazingly no sign of ringwear and hardly a crease of any kind - not even a half-moon crease near the opening edge. The rear panel mono/stereo peephole is perfect, as is the crucial front sticker, while there is just the slightest corner wear at the foot of the spine. The first press vinyl is as lovely a copy as I have seen. Both red unboxed Decca mono labels are practically perfect with nothing untoward to report. I cannot see any spindle marks, even when examining the disc under bright halogen light. There is no spindle wear whatsoever - so often you see these early red mono labels marred by unsightly wear around the spindle hole. Both sides of this barely played vinyl are in strong EX condition - about as bright and shiny as the day this disc was produced. When examining the vinyl under stong halogen light I could only see a couple of very light scuff/surface marks and certainly no deep or feelable scratches of any kind. The vinyl bears the very first press 1A/2A matrices and 1-1 mother stampers (1 - U/1 - BH), indicating a very early pressing indeed. I have test-played the vinyl and it plays all the way through, both sides, without skips or jumps, delivering beautifully in unbeatable mono. The original Let It Bleed poster is in EX- condition, having never been displayed, and consequently having no pinholes, no glue residue, no writing, no rips, no tears and no chunks missing; there is just one crease (diagonally across 'rolling') in addition to the original factory folds. The correct earliest printed red mono inner sleeve, retaining the soon-to-be-withdrawn London Bach Choir credit, is fully intact with no splits or unwanted writing but some creasing and minor wear and tear to the opening edge. In all this is a hard-to-beat copy of Let It Bleed - truly a set to treasure. Good luck if you are bidding - and don't forget to check out my other items.
