Description
Here is a lovely, complete, totally unmessed with and fully original first pressing mono set of Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones on unboxed red Decca (LK 5025) from 1969. This is one of the hardest Stones' albums to locate in mono, and to find an original full set, just as it came in 1969 (rather than the usual 'mix 'n' match' you may well encounter these days) is a rarity indeed. And to find the full set in this fine hardly played condition complete with a poster which has clearly never met a wall is rare indeed.
The glossy front laminated single sleeve with its original stereo/mono hole on the unlaminated rear boasts its original (not reapplied) 'Poster Included' sticker in perfect condition, with all sides untampered with, showing no fingernails have ever been tempted to remove it. The rear stereo/mono hole is also excellent. The only points to make about this sleeve are a slight ding on the top edge, a little (very light) creasing near the spine, a light impression of the disc within (both front and rear), and just a touch of foxing near the perfectly straight opening edge on the rear. But really this lovely sleeve comfortably grades VG+.
The original 1969 matt finish poster that only came with first pressings of this LP (stating 'Poster designed by Victor Kahn') is in excellent condition with very little signs of handling, and no evidence whatsoever of ever having been displayed. The colours remain as vibrant as the day it was printed, with all edges razor straight, no rips, no writing and no chunks missing, and no tape or Bluetak residue! There is just one light and hardly noticeable corner crease. All the evidence points to this poster having spent all its life safely ensconced within the sleeve.
The mono disc itself is in fine shape with both (unblemished) red Decca labels showing very little evidence of spindle activity (and certainly no 'spindle wear'), indicating very little use. Both sides of the disc are glossy and black, and look lovely when examined in natural light. Harsh halogen lighting reveals just three or four marks on Side One, which are not feeelable and do not sound in any way. This lovely heavy slab of vinyl easily grades VG. It plays perfectly - clearly, vibrantly and dynamically.
The disc is housed in its original custom red mono inner sleeve, the text featuring the Stones' attempt to block out the London Bach Choir's contribution to the music. This fine inner is unsplit.
Here therefore is a rare chance to acquire a hardly played complete and original mono set of one of the greatest rock albums of all time.
