Description
THIS IS AN EARLY (FIRST?) PRESSING OF THE ROLLING STONES 1964 LP “THE ROLLING STONES NO 2” ON THE UK DECCA MONO RED LABEL AND IS SERIOUSLY RARE IN THIS CONDITION! THE VINYL IS IN MINT CONDITION! THE COVER IS IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION!! DONT MISS THIS VERY RARE OPPORTUNITY!
The Catalogue Number is LK 4661 on the ORIGINAL RED DECCA label (see picture) and is a mono UK pressing with matrix numbers XARL 6619 1A and XARL 6620 2A (please contact me if you know whether this denotes a first pressing or not so that I can amend this description if necessary).
The record labels are in STUNNING condition (see pictures) with NO wear, NO writing, and only LIGHT spindle marks. I BOUGHT THIS RECORD AND IT HAS ONLY BEEN PLAYED ON TOP QUALITY HI-FI EQUIPMENT. The vinyl is in SUPERB condition with NO scratches, NO scuff marks and NO signs of wear. THE RECORD STILL RETAINS EVERY BIT OF ITS ORIGINAL 'JUST PRESSED' LOOK! The record sounds as STUNNING as the visual! It plays with CRYSTAL CLEAR UNDISTORTED SOUND, NO sticking, NO groovewear, NO jumps, and NO crackle! The record plays SUPERBLY with ZERO DISTORTION! Believe me this record is NOT overgraded in ANY way! Brilliant!!
The cover is in OUTSTANDING condition for its age and type (see pictures)! These old Decca covers for early Stones albums were not very sturdy and, like their contents, most were used and abused.
The signs of age to the front cover are as follows: the cellophane has lifted away slightly from the spine edge in two places – 3cm x 0.5cm maximum and 5cm x 1cm max – but is not detached or damaged. There is LIGHT ringwear. There is a LIGHT 2cm vertical thumb crease. The open edges have SLIGHT wear. There is some wear to the shiny surface. There is a VERY LIGHT 0.5cm horizontal crease from the spine. There is a VERY LIGHT 2cm vertical crease from the bottom edge.
The cover has NO wear to the spine or the top and bottom edges!
The back cover has some LIGHT discolouration to the extreme edges (see picture).
IN SUMMARY, I WOULD THINK THIS IS AS BEST A COVER AS YOU WILL FIND FOR THIS ALBUM.
THIS IS A MASSIVELY RARE UK PRESSING TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION! MOST OF THEM WERE PLAYED TO DEATH AND THE COVERS ARE SHABBY. DONT MISS OUT!
For packaging I use strong record boxes with extra stiffeners to stop damage and bends to the cover. All LPs are sent out with the record packed separately from the original cover to stop splits and damage to the cover.
