Overall for those who haven't the inclination to read the full critique of this LP it grades near EX(vinyl), VG+(cover), EX(labels) and EX(original inner sleeve) and the sound quality is excellent throughout.
This is a UK first press MONO copy of what is now a rare LP. The matrix endings are XARL 6619-2A and XARL 6620-2A, the mother stampers are 1,GD and 3D.HH. This copy is in close to excellent condition overall. Its not mint but if you bid based on the description you will be pleased. There are a number of notable points to mention about this copy. It is has the 'deep grooved' label i.e. there is a circular groove half an inch in the from the edge. Early copies had this type, later ones were smooth. It has a front laminated James Upton cover not a flip back cover. It has the so called 'blind man' text where Andrew Loog Oldham urges fans to mug a blind man for the money to buy the LP. This wording is not as rare as many sellers seem to think but when it was eventually noticed by those in authority it was removed from later covers so copies with this 'offensive' wording cannot be later than 1966 and they are rarer than the censored covers.
In terms of condition I would grade this as near excellent overall. In particular I recommend the sound quality of this LP. These heavy vinyl 60's pressings usually play better than they look and this copy plays excellently with virtually no deterioration in listening quality despite some minor signs of usage. For example it is very quiet on the run-ins and between tracks. There are a few hairlines and very light scuffs but if there weren't I would have no hesitation in grading this as near mint. As it is near excellent is a fair summary of the vinyl. The labels are clean with no writing and no signs of excessive spindle hole wear which is a sure sign that the LP has been played alot. This one has had average play and has been carefully handled on the visual evidence. It has the original 'Handling...Playing' inner sleeve which is another sure sign that the previous owner was careful in managing their record collection.
The cover is very pleasing and again has been well looked after over the years. It has very minor laminate creasing which is almost inevitable with 60's flimsy covers But there are no major problems, no creasing, a nice readable spine and clean opening edges. The major fault with front laminated LPs is that the rears are prone to discolouration and this copy does have a general dulling of the original white but there is no staining and only minimal finger marking at the opening edge. Many would grade this cover excellent but so as not to eaxggerate I will grade it VG+. It is in very collectible condition.

BUYER INFORMATION
Please note that unless the play quality is specifically mentioned records are graded visually. I aim to describe the visual appearance of all items accurately using the standards below which are based on the UK Record Collector Price Guide. The highest grade I use now is NEAR MINT ('UNPLAYED' if still sealed in shrink wrap or occasionally full MINT but only if the provenance of the item suggests this to be correct). Records graded EX+ or EX++ would probably be called 'near mint' or 'mint' by most sellers. Please READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY and study photographs to avoid disappointment later. I will refund only on items which do not conform to the description and standards set out here.
GRADING SYSTEM
NEAR MINT: The record appears to be in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and other inserts are perfect. For MINT grading see above
EXCELLENT: The item has been played and may have some light surface marks but there is very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents have slight wear.
VERY GOOD: The record has been played quite alot but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Cover and contents show some wear.
GOOD:The record has been played many times and the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably. The cover and contents are often damaged.
I use EX++,EX+,VG++,VG+ as subsidiary gradings. Unless the record is extremely rare I do not sell items which are less than VG in condition.
