THE ROLLING STONES - OUT OF OUR HEADS

Rare original UK 1965 1st press EXPORT 12" LP, with gleaming vinyl on the circular grooved, drak blue and UNBOXED DECCA label, STEREO SKL 4725

Matrix Numbers : Side 1 ZAL-6791-2L with "KT" tax code at 12 o'clock, and stampers "2 G" (not easy to make out) and "B 11" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively ;   

Side 2   ZAL-6792-2L with "KT" tax code at 12 o'clock, and stampers "1" and "U U" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

Both sides of the vinyl shine nicely with the original jet black lacquered sheen still intact. The vinyl is totally flat and in normal daylight comes across as having barely any blemishes at all; it is only with close inspection under a bright light that some wispy hairlines, a few extremely light surface scuff marks and the occasional non-obvious "shadow" or "dulling" mark (a little more prevalent on side 2) come into view. All surface only with nothing feelable and all appearing to be purely superficial. The overall condition of the vinyl is EXCELLENT minus (EX-).

As the accompanying photos testify, the labels remain in great condition : unmarked except for some very, very light spindle trails on each label. The iconic sliver writing upon the dark blue background remains perfectly defined, and note the inverted matrix number on each label immediately above the catalogue number - a key identifier of this rare "export" pressing. Note also the circular groove on each label - again, indicative of very early UK DECCA pressings. A definite EXCELLENT (EX) for each label.

The front side only laminated Robert Stace outer sleeve is in overall very good plus (VG+) condition. All of the edges and corners remain firm and well defined with no scuffing at all, as is the spine, and also with no creasing or tears, and all of the colours have retained their rich vibrancy. Corner rubbing is at a minimum and there is just some very slight feathering on the front opening edge but no unwanted writing or doodles and all text, including spine text, remains perfectly intact. The only blemishes are some sporadic very light 1 cm laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the edges, a 14cm vertical strip (1cm wide) of laminate lift adjacent to the top half of the spine, two non-obvious areas (1.5cm by 6cm and 1cm by 8cm) of scuffing on the reverse side towards the top right corner (see photo), and a single non-obvious small 1cm laminate/partial cardboard crease perpendicular and adjacent to the spine on the front side, and about half way up, which does slightly weaken the spine at that point. Despite these minor blemishes the outer sleeve remains in overall impressive condition and highly presentable.

The audio quality is truly excellent. No skips, repeats, pops, jumps or nasty clicks. On side 1 I noticed x2 light clicks towards the end of the 1st track, x2 light clicks during the 4th track, and 5 very, very light clicks towards the beginning of track 5, with no clicks at all on side 2. Close inspection under a bright light revealed no obvious cause so I can only attribute these few light and background clicks to specks of dust in the grooves through decades of storage for which a proper clean may remedy. There is barely any background crackle/interference at all - just the hint of some very light background crackle during the run-off's and during a couple of the intermissions...negligible. As you would expect from a quaiity 1st pressing such as this, despite it's 56 year antiquity, great tone and clarity throughout with every track making for a great listen.

Comes complete with the original poly-lined DECCA inner sleeve with correct "British Patent No", "Foreign patents pending" and Made in England" texts, with no seam splits or tears,  just some creasing in the corners and mild discolouration, and remaining fully functional. 

A highly collectible copy of this increasingly rare and hard to find UK 1st press Stones gem - a welcome addition to any serious vinyl collection with the impressive STEREO audio quality being a true highlight.

Note that I always insert the vinyl(s) into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the sleeve itself  to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

Descriptions of any records I sell comply with the Rare Record Price Guide grading guidelines :

Mint  The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent  The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good  The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good  The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair  The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor  The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

Bad  The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
