ORIGINAL UK Pressing from September 1965. 1st type grooved unboxed Decca labels.
Rarer Clout & Baker sleeve with the '965' error! (should read 1965). Most of these originals can be in the more common Robert Stace manufactured sleeve .
An overall superb example of this 52 year old 1st pressing that are usually found in played condition.
The Sleeve: In Excellent Minus condition. All text legible and pictorials clear and glossy and has held original colour tones. The front and rear panels are smooth and glossy; very clean and neat, the length of the spine and top and bottom edges have no fraying, and all original title and catalogue number text is legible.
Free of rips or splits, no handwriting or marks. There are several half-moon type laminate creases gathered in just one section, and light record outline. The sleeve is sturdy, firm and no laminate fraying, corners well defined.
Rarer Printed and made by Clout & Baker
Rare Copyright year '965' error on reverse, should read '1965'
Inner Sleeve: Excellent condition original Decca poly-lined interior inner sleeve.... Intact at all seams, clean, no marks. Correctly has the British Patent No. but not the Foreign No. as the patent had not yet been granted.
No handwriting or marks.
The Vinyl: The vinyl surfaces are Excellent to Excellent Plus. Under halogen light there surfaces are smooth and glossy with no groove wear. Vastly unblemished surfaces with just a couple of small feint hairlines and a couple of wispy sleeve removal traces near the outer rim on one side in total. Nothing obtrusive to the audio, no scratches, no scuffs, no warps, no needle drop marks, ni dinks in the vinyl.
Alos appears unblemished in normal house lighting. Clean grooves and has a completely fresh glossy surface all over with a bright shine.. nothing to be seen at all only under close inspection as explained. The record is certainly in far over average and respectable condition, having received moderate and careful plays, and not trashed-out or over used as so many have.
Heavyweight solid robust early 1960's vinyl which lays completely flat on the turntable.
Labels: Excellent and very neat. All text clear with bright backgound, the perimeter area around the spindle location is neat with no visible wear at all! ... does have spindle line traces visible but are not heavy.
Mothers/ Stampers:
Side 1: 4 CI
Side 2: 2 HC
No handwriting or marks.
The Audio: The audio grades at Excellent to Excellent Plus. The LP plays throughout clearly on both sides, with no pops, no background noises such as crackle or hiss, and there are obviously no skips/jumps or sticks. The dead-wax grooves preceding and succeeding the song intro's and succeeding the outro's are quiet with barely any static ticks, and have to listen hard to pick up on anything. Plays through very clearly without surface noise audible over any audio, just one or two quick click type ticks could be heard over any audio in total, even the quiet interludes (of which there are not many on this rock LP) have no surface noise. The Mono bass is perfect with no feedback or hiss, and the vocals are crisp and clear, and instrumentals lucid.
Easily one of the best sounding copies of this 52 year-old record that is ever likely to surface.
