"Rolling Stones" Label

1st Pressing Matrices

with 'ROLLING STONES RECORDS'

hand etched in the run-out grooves on both sides

Mega Rare zip feature.....

Not only is this the first pressing with the large 'rounded' zip cover, this is the one with the mega rare zip variation. This earliest 1st pressing zip has an inverted 'V-shaped' die cut just above the rounded zip puller - see scan. Only the very earliest covers had this feature - most 1st pressings had large rounded zip pullers without the inverted v-shape. I have only ever seen one other of these and that was many years ago.

Cover: 1st pressing cover with COC 50100 on the spine and the large rounded zip puller with the rare inverted v-shape. The non-gatefold cover is unlaminated and the zipper works perfectly. Has the Andy Warhole pants as part of the inner sleeve. The front is In Near Excellent condition. No writings, doodles or seam splits. The smallest top 'buckle' part of the sleeve is, like most of these sleeves, missing - see scan. This is the only missing part - the rest is complete. No writings, doodles or seam splits. Some wear along edges, a minor crease in the corner  and a couple of small spots. The rear rates as Excellent+. These covers are unbelieably fragile but this is in great condition for a 40 year old cover. Comes in it's original paper (non-polylined) patent no. 1.125.555 inner sleeve which is in Excellent condition.

Lyric insert: Excellent. No writings, doodles or rips.

Vinyl: Play tested - looks VG but plays Excellent. Superb sound - especially as these earliest 1st pressings were pressed on relatively light-weight vinyl. The next batch of 1st pressings (A4 & B4 matrices) were pressed on heavier vinyl. Some feathering and light hairlines but this causes minimal background crackle and even this is really only noticeable during the beginning of each side and occasionally during quieter moments.

Labels: Near Mint.  Has the 1st pressing 'PROMOTONE' credit on the label.

Postage £4 (UK - special delivery) £8.50 (EUROPE - signed for) & £10.50 (REST OF THE WORLD - signed for)

Gradings.......

Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.

Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches.

Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mor significant scratches.

Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.

Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc

Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
