The Rolling Stones : Through The Past Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2)
This early boxed stereo pressing plays with immaculate audio and is without doubt a final upgrade archive copy. It comes complete with a superb 'octagonal' cover and inner sleeve.

Visual grading
This vinyl has been so carefully handled down the years and has been hardly played judging by the minimal amount of spindle wear. It retains a superb glossy sheen and there are no scratches and only a very small number of sleeve removal hairlines. There is a little fading on one area of S1 but this has no affect on the stunning quality of the audio. The JT tax stamp can be seen on both run out grooves. This tax code was discontinued after April 1973 so this is one of the earlier boxed pressings.
Play grading
S1 plays with stunning quality from start to finish. 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' begins proceedings with no static on the intro and then plays with incredible depth and power throughout. This is a vinyl that has been barely played judging by the definition of each note i.e. the sound could not be any clearer. The fade out also plays with perfect precision. Having played every track on this side I can safely say there is no intrusive interference to be heard. There are no clicks, pops or crackle and the clarity is just so impressive. For example the very quiet intro and fade out on '2,000 Light Years From Home' play with no 'background'. 'We Love You' could easily play with some distortion being the final track on the side and having many 'loud' sections but I pleased to say it doesn't! This is audio of the highest quality and I and confident in grading it as Mint- it is that good! The minus just because it isn't sealed!
'Street Fighting Man' is absolutely stunning! This is without doubt the most impressive version I have heard in a long time. There is none of the tinny distortion you often find on the 'Beggars Banquet' stereo pressings. This is 'high end' audio and could not play any better. You can even hear the piano clearly on the end section, something that is often missed. There is no interference on this classic and the depth and power is sublime and again the fade out has no 'background' at all. A Mint start to S2 without doubt. 'She's A Rainbow' plays to the same immaculate standard and I heard only a couple of mega quiet dust ticks during the quieter piano sections. A fantastic version and the 'cleanest' I have ever heard. The classic 'Ruby Tuesday' once more plays to the same breathtaking standard. There are only a handful of light dust ticks but this you will find on new vinyl let alone one of this age. The clarity could not be any more impressive. The remainder of the side is equal to this also with 'Honky Tonk Women' closing the album in fine style with superb power and only a minimal amount of distortion on the end section.
In summary this is a final upgrade archive pressing for certain and it would be nigh on impossible to find a 'cleaner' stereo pressing than this. It is without doubt the most impressive I have ever heard. During playback I did not hear a single click or pop and it is obvious by the amazing clarity that this vinyl has been hardly played. Complete with a lovely octagonal cover and a very clean blue stereo inner this would add to any collection.
The Cover
The octagonal G&L cover is one of the best examples I have ever seen, if not the best! The edges are in superb condition with only a couple of tiny 'dings' and the spine remains in near perfect shape and is still 100% legible. The laminate on the front cover has no splits or lifting and the back cover is almost as good with only a minor 'lift' by the bottom edge. I only noticed this today and it really is very minor! There is no marking or creasing anywhere and the inside is similarly in fantastic condition and looks 'as new'. It would be difficult to find a cleaner version. Absolutely stunning!
Inner sleeve
The original blue Stereo inner sleeve is in great shape with no splits or tears and only a minimal amount of creasing. Again this is a superb example of its kind.
The labels
The boxed Decca labels are super clean with absolute minimal spindle wear. They have no marking/writing and as stated the JT tax stamp can be seen on both run out grooves which incidentally are both extremely clean.
