Description
ROLLING STONES: Their Satanic Majesties Request. UK 1967 Decca TXS.103 Vinyl Stereo LP
The label design on this disc was used from 1970 until 1972 and so it was pressed during this period. The inner sleeve which should be blue and white to designate a stereo record is red and white. Decca had stopped manufacturing mono records by this date and seemed to have abandoned the inner sleeve identification method but retained the punched hole cover. For more information on Rolling Stones labels and covers see stonesondecca.com
The disc is in very good condition. It has not been played for about 30 years. There is light surface sound on the track run ins and the occasional light ’click’ which does not detract from the overall reproduction quality*. The gatefold cover shows minimal signs of storage/ring wear. Please see the photographs.
*Records of this age however well stored will collect a certain amount of dust and specks of paper fibre from the inner sleeve. As far as possible I carefully remove any surface dust with a carbon fibre brush and lens cleaning cloth and then describe the condition of the disc after a test play. I have achieved impressive enhanced reproduction quality almost eliminating any surface noise on records of a similar age by a thorough wet clean with a solution of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water.
This LP was test played on a Garrard 401 turntable with SME arm and Shure V15 cartridge/stylus with a tracking force of 1 gram.
