Description

ROLLING STONES "VOODOO LOUNGE" Original 1994 U.K. LP by the Classic British Rockers (Virgin) V-2750 MINT! First U.K. pressing by the "World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band" featuring the legendary team of Mick Jagger & Keith Richards plus Charlie Watts (drums) & Ronnie Wood (lead guitar). Contains "Love Is Strong", "You Got Me Rocking" & "Out Of Tears".

1994 was a bad year for vinyl LPs. CDs largely dominated the music marketplace but big groups like the Rolling Stones still had vinyl editions of their latest output. “Voodoo Lounge” was a case in point. It was the first album under their new licensing deal to be released by Virgin Records. It was their 20th studio album & the first since 1989's “Steel Wheels”. Key tracks were “Love Is Strong”, “You Got Me Rocking” & “Out Of Tears”. Mick Jagger usually handled the lead vocals allowing Keith Richards one song per album. But Keith's lone entry “Thru & Thru” was featured in the finale of “The Sopranos” second season. In addition to Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, the band consisted of Ronnie Wood on lead guitar, Charlie Watts on drums with session man Darryl Jones replacing Bill Wyman on bass. Bill had retired from the Stones active duty in 1991. Keyboards were handled by Chuck Leavell & Don Was became the producer. The lead single “Love Is Strong” did not do well on the U.S. charts but “Voodoo Lounge” still went double platinum  (sales of over 2 million units) & reached #2 in Billboard. It also received a Grammy as the Best Rock Album in 1995.  It also did quite well in England going to #1 on the charts & achieving gold status for sales of over 100,000 copies.
