Description

ARTIST/BAND NAME: The Rolling Stones

RECORD TITLE: Welcome To New York!

RECORD LABEL: Trade Mark Of Quality TMOQ (Matrix RS 546 A/B Rel)

YEAR OF RELEASE: The record AND the metal stampers were made in 1973!

PRESSING INFO: Original TMOQ black vinyl LP pressing with Pig labels. This is an original laminated jacket pressing (rare) along with the actual metal stampers that made this record (making this a one of a kind set!).

CONDITION (Cover/Vinyl): VG++ to Mint- (extremely light wear, someone neatly wrote the title on the spine)/ VG++ to Mint- (Super clean copy with only the lightest of paper scuffs, best one I've ever seen!)

COMMENTS: I've had this record in my collection for at least 25 years. The stamper plates I acquired about 10 years ago. The dates on the sleeve for the plates shows when they were last used for the TMOQ / TAKRL reissues done in 1986. At that time 550 copies were run off the plates; originally in 1973 there were about 1,000 LPs made. Plates are usually good for about 4,000 to 5,000 pressings. I've had these checked out by a master lathe technician and he said these plates are in excellent shape and could still be used. There are no dings or scratches. He also said that these were considered to be the "Cadillac" of stamper plates being very high quality and quite heavy. How do I know these are the original plates? First of all, the matrix numbers on the plates match up exactly with the ones on the record, and other material (shown in the last pic but not included in this auction) sent with the stampers have the original date of 10-2-73 on them. The TMOQ label probably never made a large enough quantity (it was about quality) of any title to require more than one set of stampers. This is the ultimate TMOQ set of the ultimate TMOQ album! Superb stereo sound and one of the Stones' best performances. I guarantee you'll never find a more collectible set or even just a better copy of this record. I hate to part with this set (always thought it would look good framed) so I have to put a decent reserve on this. Here's the one and only chance for you to get this, if my reserve is not met I'll just have to keep 'em. Good luck!
