KUKUMBE / KILIMANGIARO ... 7-inch, 45 rpm OST TV single. Music by ROMOLO GRANO vocals by EDDA DELL'ORSO arrangements by GIANNI ODDI. Original Italian pressing on the RICORDI label (SRL 10781), from 1975. Absolutely killer lounge funk and exotica from the super-obscure RAI television series, Le Montagne Della Luce. One of our favourite soundtrack releases of them all ;) An insanely good and eclectic double-sider with that quintessential Italian soundtrack ambience of the period. The outstanding KUKUMBE theme is arguably the funkiest of all recorded music featuring the spellbinding voice of Edda Dell'Orso. This is fender rhodes jazz funk with a bassline to die for. Incredible rhythm hooks with thunderous drums / most probably, Oscar Valdambrini on trumpet (he was the player of choice for both Grano and Berto Pisano in this period) / latin congas / shakers / wordless scat and looped breaks midway. Great for DJs with booming production. Comped on UP! The Second, for the Schema label. The spaced-out KILIMANGIARO side is also suberb. Mellow, stoned and cinematic atmospheres with dreamy scat harmony / cosmic synthesizer and jazzy motifs. Next level arrangements by Gianni Oddi of Style RCA SP series Library and Dreamin' infamy. Rare OST 45!!!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG dell'orso
Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) regardless of a few hairlines / faint scuffs and some old pressing marks. Light surface noises. Booming production sound. Some soft pops / soft ticks to the gentle "Kilimangiaro" side (as you can hear on our soundclip). The soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with minimal light wear, in general. Some faint ring dirt marks. Some light creasing in places. A touch of corner wear. Rare OST 45!!
