Ronettes "Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring VERONICA" PHLP-ST 4006
You see this album listed here on EBay from time-to-time. It is not rare, but it is long out of production. It is the licensed copy (UK) of the Ronettes' "White Album" Philles 4006.
The album is not in mono, it is in remastered STEREO. The only copies of the original 4006 that came STEREO were "record club" licensed prints. (Remember those monthly-order record clubs like the 'Capitol Record Club' ?) You see their STEREO copies come up here on EBay too. They have the word STEREO printed at the top of the front cover.
I have a huge Ronette's collection and the knowledge to go with it. I won't elaborate here. But suffice to say, when it comes to the Ronettes? I have it, and I have it in mint condition.
This is my opinion only. But I think that this particular album has the finest Ronettes' recorded sound of ANY LP produced in history. A close second is the Japanese licensed 4006 produced by JVC, which has excellent stereo sound as well.
This album, when played on an appropriate turntable, you know? Truth be known? When played on not even an appropriate turntable!...Has sound that is awesome. The clarity. The sharpness. Ronnie, Estelle, and Nedra are right there in the room with you. End of subject.
I have a couple of extra copies of this album that I am letting go. This album did not come with a "factory seal". But this one, while remaining unplayed / untouched, also comes in a plastic sleeve.
This record is not about, in most cases, collecting, storing. It is about playing. So if you want the finest Ronettes' stereo sound, pull the trigger on this album. You are not going to get it in Mint condition much longer, from any source.
