Description
ROOSEVELT HOLTS ” PRESENTING THE COUNTRY BLUES”
CLASSIC MISSISSIPPI RURAL BLUES
THIS LP IS A REAL FIND FOR A SERIOUS COLLECTOR OF TRADITIONAL BLUES
This is a Stereo BLUE HORIZON (BH 7704) release of Roosevelt Holts “PRESENTING THE COUNTRY BLUES”
Holts was a Mississippi born blues singer and guitarist who had the classic rural blues sound in his voice and guitar. His bottleneck style is especially impressive.
Side 1: Prison bound blues; Maggie Campbell blues; Feelin’ sad and blue; I’m going to build right on that shore; Lead pencil blues; Another mule kickin’ in my stall.
Side 2: Little bitty woman; The good book teach you; Big road blues; Let’s talk it over again; Re river blues; She put me outdoors.
Holts was singing in the 1930's but was not recorded then. These songs were recorded in 1966 by the Center of Comparative Folklore and Mythology of the University of California.
HOLTS IS CONSIDERED AMONG THE FINEST MISSISSIPPI BLUESMEN IN CLASSIC AMERICAN COUNTRY BLUES
The vinyl is in excellent condition with no scuffs, abrasions or cuts. It plays very cleanly with no pop, hiss or crackle.
The cover has a tiny ¼ inch hole in the upper right corner. Except for minor discoloration of white edge at bottom of back cover, both front and back sides almost no other markings or signs of wear.
This album is from my personal collection and I will auction only items which are QUALITY and RARE.
